About euro|topics / Concept

euro|topics is the multi-lingual online range of offers from the Federal Agency for Political Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb) on European topics. euro|topics informs about political, cultural and societal debates from 28 countries (the EU and Switzerland). The daily press review allows Europe-wide access to debates and opinions, which media have so far carried out at a national level. The magazine, which is issued weekly, introduces topics and presents background information on important European questions. In this way, euro|topics promotes transeuropean discussions and the development of new networks for media, cultural and political exchanges.

euro|topics has a comprehensive and consistently increasing archive of almost 10,000 press review articles and other contributions at its disposal. A media index consists of 150 newspapers, and the detailed author index optimises the search for European thinkers and debates.

European media review

For the working day press review, editors and correspondents view the most important newspapers from the 28 European states (the EU and Switzerland), and select articles containing opinions, reflections, essays and comments. In their articles, they explain the circumstances of the discussions and translate appropriate quotes. If possible, a link leads back to the original article. The range of topics in the European press review comprehends politics, media, society, culture and contemporary history.

The press review is published in three languages (English, French and German). They can be obtained as a free Email newsletter.

euro|topics is offered by the Federal Agency for Political Education. Since May 2008, n-ost Network for Reporting on Eastern Europe has produced the press review and the weekly dossier in the magazine. The bpb online editorial office provides further dossiers and additional contents.

From the end of 2005 to April 2008, the press review was produced by the "Perlentaucher Medien GmbH" (Berlin) in collaboration with "Courrier International" (Paris). From January 2007 to April 2008, the "Perlentaucher Medien GmbH" also produced the debate texts and link lists for the magazine.
