Europe rules against Microsoft
Piotr Gabryel voices approval of the European Commission's battle against Microsoft and the European Court of Justice's ruling. "The ruling against Microsoft and above all the likelihood that the company will now refrain from its monopolistic practices as a result of this decision will lead to lower prices for computer software, and this in turn will boost economic growth within the EU... Unfortunately, the number of cases in which the state is left powerless against rapidly-growing monopolising companies is much greater both in the economic history of the world and in recent economic history. We pay the price for this every day."

Ireland as a model for Poland
According to a survey published by the newspaper, twelve percent of Poles - in other words over three million people - will leave Poland to seek work abroad over the next year. Most of them want to go to Great Britain, Germany or Ireland. Piotr Gabryel comments: "This is not, in itself, a bad thing. On the contrary, it could even be good - however for that there would have to be movement in both directions. This would require that many Poles who have already left the country return and that foreigners move to Poland in droves. But unfortunately this is not the case. Polish politicians are losing the battle for the Poles. ... because they lack the vision, knowledge and courage to push through the reforms that would turn our country into a paradise for enterprising individuals... We need the kind of courage that the Irish had in the 1980s. ... They liberalised their economy to such an extent that many of those who had emigrated returned. Today, with their support, Ireland is winning the battle for workers and is on its way to becoming one of the wealthiest countries in the EU."

The Polish and Hungarian political crisis
Editor in chief Piotr Gabryel examines the collapse of the Polish governmental coalition and compares it with the situation in Hungary. "In Poland we have a whole horde of politicians who – like Ferenc Gyurcsany, Prime Minister and head of Hungary's socialists, and Victor Orban, former prime minister and leader of the Hungarian conservatives – have spent years ruining Poland's public finances intentionally. However, up to now, no one has been brave or honest enough to confess to this as Ferenc Gyurcsany has done. Or at least no one has published a recorded speech in which he does so. The sooner a politician like Gyurcsany comes along in Poland, the easier it will be for Poland to recover from the Hungarian sickness or avoid falling prey to it altogether."
